Sales Jobs in FMCG industry

The ever growing economies and growing businesses are increasing the sales numbers exponentially. So, with the growing market, the need for skilled sales personnel is also increasing proportionally. This need is both domestic and in the international market. Sales sector is the backbone of any given company in any market. An organized and professional approach towards sales is of utmost importance for a company to make the best use of its capital and available resources. With the advent of retail boom and economy expansion, more and more companies, small and big alike, are looking at expanding their market share and for this to happen, they have to increase their sales. Hence, the need for sales personnel is increasing by the day.

The booming Indian economy has given a fair chance for many small players in the manufacturing sector to produce their products. Since most of these manufacturers cannot afford a retail outlet or a dealer to sell their produce, the economical option for them is to employ salesmen who can market as well as sell their products efficiently. The employee gets good returns in this job and these returns are usually supplemented by other allowances. The salesman has to cause an impact on the mind of the customer and make him believe that his product is ultimate and will be of use to the customer more than his competitor’s.

The upcoming retail chains by major business houses like Reliance, Bharti-Wal-Mart, ITC, Pantaloons, Big Bazaar etc are setting up huge shopping malls and branded outlet, food chains, supermarkets etc. There is a huge requirement for man power in these shopping malls and supermarkets. Salesmen and saleswomen, customer support, sales executives, computer operators etc.

Apart from the low and medium skill jobs discussed so far, there are also managerial technicality related jobs which require a skill set and experience to handle the position. Sales managers, sales promotions officers, advertising and marketing heads, overheads and cost cutting, market expansion and market capitalization etc are some of the designations and jobs that one must perform in a company at the higher ranks. For a sales executive or salesmen, good communication skills and presentation skills are a certain necessity. For other higher sales jobs like sales managers and the like, a higher skill set is required. Generally, experience is very much preferred and an MBA or B.Com is is very much preferred.
