A job seeker in the field of printing technology is expected to be familiar with the following prerequisite techniques namely; Flexography, packaging technology (printing on packaged products), Materials Technology (knowledge of materials like ink, paper, chemicals, and plates), Letter press, Lithography, Screen or Laser and inkjet, Preparation of image carrier, Gravure. Apart from pre-printing techniques, one needs to understand the various post printing techniques or finishing techniques like cutting, folding, binding, laminating, embossing and many more.
Educational Background and qualifications asked for:
Many reputed institutions or even colleges and universities offer degree and many other diploma programs relevant to printing technology. Some courses offered in these institutes are as long as three years which are generally termed as full time courses in this field. But for a regular diploma, tenth class pass certificate is mandatory. Science background at the 10th standard is a must for a candidate applying in the lateral entry scheme of the two-year diploma course. Some institutes also provide short-term certificates for courses that offer expertise or a comprehensive study over all the aspects of today’s printing methodology. Such courses are crafted in an appropriate module which provides the student with the required theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject. Many short term courses are available which preach screen printing, desk top publishing, mini offset printing, camera operation, offset machine printing and plate making.
