Digital Microprocessor Jobs
An embedded system is basically a computer which can execute assigned tasks. Embedded systems are present in most of the devices which we use these days and act as there controlling units. Embedded systems can be divided into two types; they are micro controllers and microprocessors. A microprocessor generally executes single and specific tasks, whereas a microcontroller can do a number of jobs. A microcontroller is often called the extended version of a microprocessor. A microprocessor basically comprises of all the functions of a central processing unit on a single integrated chip. The first microprocessors were invented in the early 1970’s which were used for simple applications like electronic calculators. Later further developments were made and microprocessors were used for applications such as printers, terminals and various kind of automation. All this happened within a matter of no time. Microprocessors for a long period have been made out of small and medium level integrated chips which consisted of the equivalent of a few to few hundreds of transistors.
Now the consolidation of whole of the CPU onto a single chip has decreased the cost of processing capability to a great extent. With more and more improvements each time the microprocessor has become the integral part of devices like super computers, laptops etc. the microprocessor indirectly operates the various part of the computers. The instrumentation area uses the microprocessors to a great extent. Therefore digital and microprocessor jobs have opened up new avenues in one’s career.
The microprocessor industry is very ambitious in a strong way. For nearly 40 years the chip developers have been working on one task of compressing as many transistors as possible onto a single chip. There are a lot of design challenges involved in all this. The demand for microprocessor is also changing. For example the need for personal computers has increased, number of mobile devices being sold has leaped in the past decade; there is a lot of increase in the number of broadband connections available these days. All this has led to the need for microprocessors which are highly efficient to be increased.
People who want to pursue there career in this particular field should have the basic knowledge about the morphological concepts of a basic microprocessor. He should also be aware of control systems which are established on microprocessor. Here you will get a chance to add to the growth of advanced logic, new technologies, different methodologies etc. The main requirement to get into a job like this is 4 years of bachelors’ degree with a background of VLSI, having an idea about the custom hi-speed layout or logic development. The candidate should have a proper knowledge about the fundamentals of VLSI and related subjects like circuits and logic families.
