Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala is a major economic & academic center and boasts of various business alleys and institutions of learning previously the financial system of Thiruvananthapuram city was supported by the tertiary sector, i.e. the government sector which employed 60% of the personnel. This is bound to increase, with work on in a 400,000 ft² TCS Peepul Park and TCS Development Centre. Similarly, work has been initiated on an IBS Campus, the 460,000 ft² Leela IT building. As a result of this massive infrastructural development in the ITES sector, the city is now one of the most lucrative destinations for IT professionals in the country. Thiruvananthapuram, being a prominent coastal city also has a booming tourism industry, which has contributed heavily to the city’s economy. The city is also used as a focal point by foreign tourists to explore the other places in the high profile tourism state of Kerala. The popularity of the age old recuperation form of Ayurveda in the west makes the city a hub for Medical tourism, due to the presence of numerous recognized Ayurveda centres in the city.
