Jobs in Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh is the largest of the 7 states in Northeast India. The state is mostly hilly and flanked by Tibet in the north; separated by McMohan Line, by Bhutan in the west, by China and Myanmar in the east and by the Indian states of Assam and Nagaland in the south. It is predominately a tribal state with more than 82 major tribes and sub-tribes of Indo-mongoloid and Mongoloid lineage residing in the state, and who are largely dependent on forest resources for their sustenance.

The northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, which constitutes the major portion of the eastern Himalayas, is one of the two-biodiversity hot spots in India, of 25 global biological diversity hot spots all over the world. Arunachal Pradesh is home to 4 general and 8 species of non-human primates.

Arunachal Pradesh is the one of the largest state among the northeastern state. It has Population of just above 1 million. Through it has successfully launched various socio-economic development programs and though the literacy rate has also been rising, industrial activity is insignificant. Hence, the need for a well-defined Industrial policy is very important. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people of Arunachal Pradesh. Most of the state Land is covered with dense and rich forest. So the forest product and industries based on forest products are the lifeline in the state and provides income and employment to large scale of people. Most of the industries in the state are based on forest products such as Timber, Veneer and Plywood. Apart from forests based industries there are industries in tea, cement and petrochemical. Hundreds of people are employed in these industries.

As the literacy rate is increasing the need of employment is also increasing at a faster rate. This policy resolution is the second of its kind and will be known as “The New Industrial Policy of Arunachal Pradesh 2001″. The planner and leaders of this remote and backward area are trying hard to develop the infrastructure sector, thereby accelerating the pace of economic development. Consequently, construction of roads, bridges, dams, hydal power projects and development of townships has been taken up on a large scale. Such developmental projects in these hilly areas have been taken up.

The employment in Arunachal paradesh is agriculture oriented, and public sector is one of the biggest employers in Arunachal Pradesh, banks and NGO job opportunities are also providing jobs to many people. The industries related to agriculture are relatively more than any other industries; agri-based industries are also providing many jobs. The idea of establishing sectors like biotech, call centers and IT these sectors are on paper and some call center and IT companies have just started in Arunachal Pradesh employing hundreds of people.
