A NASSCOM survey in 2002 ranked Ahmedabad fifth among the top nine most competitive cities in the country on the ‘Super Nine Indian Destinations’ for IT-enabled services (ITES). Many national academic and scientific institutions, such as the Physical Research Laboratory and the Space Applications Centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation are also based here.
